Made a day visit to Deer Isle and Little Deer Isle

Spencer skipping a rock in the cove on Deer Isle where our family spent a
week or two in a cabin we rented from my Dad's friend some 40 years ago

The "Linda Sea" dry-docked for maintenance.

This was the lobster boat I went out on in 2003.

Some of the mackerel caught off the pier in Southwest Harbor — Spencer caught 6 in 2K5.

Here's that Coast Guard cutter I had that little encounter with in Southwest Harbor,
By the way, see something else in the water?  Not sure if it's a government seal.

Near this plaque at the foot of Acadia Mountain the water ( in Somes Sound ) is ca. 300 ft. deep,
making it the only known naturally-occurring fjord on the East Coast of the United States.
Photo was taken from "Hummer" on the way up to Somes Harbor/Somesville, ME.

Aerial photo of Somes Sound ( taken from my seat in a Cessna Skyhawk in 2002 ) facing north.
On the left ( just left of the plane's strut ) is Echo Lake where we took an evening swim ( see below ).

Spencer's one blueberry we searched for a long while but never found another ripe one.
The cool rainy spring meant they'd be coming in late.  Spencer said it was a bit sour.

Evening swim in Echo Lake — Beech Mountain in the background

The dock at Manset in Southwest Harbor — where "Hummer" was moored during our vacation

A raindrop-encrusted blueberry plant bears witness
to the Lord's exquisite care of His creation.
How much more His care of mankind!

The moon rises over Cadillac Mountain as the fog starts to clear off from Eagle Lake

The campsite at Quietside Campground — again, what a great place to be . . .

. . . and [ sigh ] what a hard place to leave as we prepare to head home.
