Ma$e's Comeback

The righteous are as bold as a lion. Proverbs 28:1

Philippians 3:10

MATURE • MENTOR • MINISTER • MAINTAIN • INVESTING IN BLACK FUTURES THRU STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Ain't all that hard to imagine the Lord Jesus sayin' something like this:
"Would that hearts would seek My face, as much as they seek Ma$e!"

 * While surprised by the "conversion" of Mason Betha, please be aware that YUBM
Ministries stands unequivocally opposed to his "total life prosperity" perspective.

U got da Rock?

Like most people, I too am a bit baffled by the mixed messages being sent by Mason Betha in
deciding to return to rapping, especially after indicating he wanted to do ministry so he could
"undo the damage" he had done while in the world as a secular artist. The jury is still out, and
I guess time will tell where he's trying to go with this.  Meanwhile the hip-hop industry is lit up
with delight and expectation, wondering what this former Bad Boy's next move is gonna be.
Turns out it wouldn't be Bad Boy, but the G-Unit show which Ma$e has thrown his lot in with.

A source wrote me to say that because of prior contractual obligations, Mason Betha had to
return to Bad Boy Records to do one last album.  Evidently Ma$e told the label he would fulfill
his contract but stated he would not use any profanity.  The label then reportedly responded,
'then you can't talk about Jesus.'  Ma$e's Welcome Back dropped on August 24, 2004 'n did a
li'l somethin' on the charts.   But will it do what he hopes it does —spillin' out the luxury flow?

U got da Rock?

Found this interesting statement (presumably) made by Ma$e in a posting for October 7, 2003

  Daily Meditation

"Find out what God wants you to do that will bring wealth to your life.  He may ask you to
do the thing you got delivered from. Trust Him and recognize that it is you [sic] way out."

Artist: Ma$e
Album: Welcome Back 12"
Song: Welcome Back
Release date: May 2004

Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back . . ..

Welcome back (Oh, oh)
Yeah, man.  How you doin' (Come on, come on, come on)
You good?  I know you like that (Yeah, you good, you doin' good)
I know you like that (Oh)
How long you been back, man?
Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome back

Verse 1

I see the girls in the club, they gettin' wild for me
And all the pretty chicks, all wanna smile at me
These rap cats, man, they all got they style from me
And if I ever seen them, then they probably bow to me
And when this beat drop, I know they gon' lean
World debut, I know they gon' fiend
Everything — Mississippi to the Palm Springs
Girls from brunettes down to blonde queens
These young boys don't know what a "don" mean
I'm just a Bad Boy gone clean
I'm the diamond chain choker, always remain sober
Don't drink liquor and all the games over
Need a plane, I explain it to my broker
Three bots in the hood top down, it ain't nova (My homie)
You know there's more, man, where that come from
Me and Cooda Love rollin' back to back in one

Chorus

See the names have all changed since I been around
But the game ain't the same since I left out
Ooh, you know we need ya, ooh, you know we need ya
Right here is where we need ya, right here is where we need ya
Welcome back
Welcome back, welcome back (You know you like that), Betha's back
Welcome back, welcome back (You know you like that), Harlem's back
You know you like that
Welcome back, welcome back (You know you like that), Betha's back
You know you like that
Welcome back, welcome back (You know you like that), Harlem's back

Verse 2

See I rep the Most High, still I'm the most fly
I win so much, they wanna know who I'm coached by
Everyday approached by chicks when I was on top
Wanna give me sosa, but I'm like "Don't try"
I see the hisses and the disses when I go by
But see the misses on my wrists-es when I float by
Self control, and I can't tell you no lie
Tryin' to find a soul-mate, you end up being so(ul)-ti(r)ed
I make my money, man, without the coca
Livin' the vida without the loca
I'm down south, so they show me country love
And I ain't even country thug
The people give me daps and hugs, so it must be love
And I love the country grub
It feel good to hear people singing, "Welcome back"
And I ain't even sellin' the track, cause I'm that Harlem cat

Chorus 2x

See the names have all changed since I been around
But the game ain't the same since I left out
Ooh you know we need ya, ooh, you know we need ya
Right here is where we need ya, right here is where we need ya
Welcome back
Welcome back, welcome back (You know you like that), Betha's back
Welcome back, welcome back (You know you like that), Harlem's back
You know you like that
Welcome back, welcome back (You know you like that), Betha's back
You know you like that
Welcome back, welcome back (You know you like that), Harlem's back
