Who Am I ?

Philippians 3:10

-  PROFILE of a STREET-ORIENTED INDIVIDUAL -

• a child of promise and great potential / blessed by God

• brought up in a religious home

• an overcomer / a survivor (beats insurmountable odds)

• loved into adulthood by Momma / more so than being raised into it

• a late-bloomer / experiences some issues in getting his life started

• acknowledged as a leader

• has hidden strengths / commands respect

• finds his people still seeking their accepted place in the larger society

• tends to be impulsive, impetuous and impatient / driven by appetites

• tends to run after (and eventually with) the wrong crowd

• tests limits and plays life dangerously close to the edge

• a fierce competitor / a street fighter / sportsman / "business" man - a true playa (balla)

• thrives in a world of adversity, hostility and retaliation

• experiences miraculous deliverances and provision 

• has some people close to him who have been murdered

• focuses on the here-and-now

• street-boaster / hustler / gambler

• rap fan / rapper / very articulate

• sharp, creative and resourceful / sometimes destructively

• highly values nice clothes

• concerned about his hair / dreadlocks / bald cut

• transient / usually on the move / virtually homeless

• occasionally exhibits "over-the-top" behavior

• has problems with relationships / a social / community outcast:
  ¬  looked upon warily by outsiders / and vice versa 
  ¬  looked upon warily by his own people / and vice versa
  ¬  rash and incendiary / quick to retaliate / argue / fight / injure / kill 

• self-serving in his relationships with women:
  ¬  has a low view of women
  ¬  has a " way" with women - knows how to "talk that talk"
  ¬  passive and dependent one moment, then angry and domineering the next
  ¬  plays around too much

• gets himself into bondage, from simple to complex

• gets caught "out there"

• gets blinded by his own folly

• has some incarceration experience / oppressed

• finds his plight exploited for entertainment purposes

• finds his life collapsing under the accumulated weight of bad life-choices

• dies tragically and prematurely, a result of "the life"

• dies as a victim of intentional or unintentional suicide / homicide

• buried by his parent(s) and family

YA KNOW ANYONE ELSE LIKE THIS?

A life filled with tremendous promise and awesome potential,
tragically sabotaged by obvious and glaring weaknesses.
Hunted, he hurtled humbled towards a tragic end.

Honestly.  If you know (or knew) someone else who fits this profile,
would you expect to find him in heaven?  As a role model no less?
