PRAYER PRE-VIEW

BIBLICAL THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY - Teaching two ESLPlus classes at Biblical during the Spring 2011 semester: "Introduction to Worldview and Philosophy" and "American History and Culture." We're zeroing in on the subject material and using each session to simultaneously foster speaking, listening, writing and reading proficiencies. Great classes!

I'm also

CENTER for URBAN THEOLOGICAL STUDIES - The Spring 2011 semester is well under way (kind of like going sailing). At CUTS I'm teaching "Introduction to Philosophy" and "The Gospel / The Street: Bridging the Gap between the Church and Hip-Hop Culture." Really enjoying the students.

EASTERN UNIVERSITY - I'm teaching a hybrid online / residency course, "Apologetics for the Urban Youth Context" (a Master of Arts in Urban Studies course) during the spring semester, and "Urban Youth Culture" (for the Urban Youth Workers Certificate program).

WESTMINSTER THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY - Yep, I'm still (somehow) pressing on at W.T.S. on my D,Min. The good news is: it's pretty much paid for. The bad news is, I'm going to have to essentially start all over again as the new urban mission program (which I've elected to start) has undergone some serious revisions after some key faculty left. I know. I can hear you saying, "At this rate, he'll probably get his degree posthumously. Mebbe.

PEOPLE from the PAST - Great to hear from Nathaniel Brand, who is now practicing law in Paterson, NJ. It's been years since we've talked. J. Kelvin Jackson is soldiering on in Grand Rapids, MI; developing leaders. (He reminded me that we've yet to make that promised road trip out to see the Grand Canyon.)

PRESENT PURSUITS and PAST PERAMBULATIONS

CENTER for URBAN THEOLOGICAL STUDIES - Finished out the Fall 2010 semester at CUTS having taught three (3) classes: "Introduction to Theology" (BIB 321C), "Foundations of Christian Thought" (BIB 300C) and "Ethics" (PHI 112C). I also had three (3) independent study student for "Contemporary Apologetics" (PHI 340C).

BIBLICAL THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY - Taught an ESL class on "American Culture and History" at Biblical Theological Seminary in Hatfield, PA during the Fall semester. Again, thank you, Dr. Oh, for inviting me in to work with this eager set of students. The highlights again for me were continuing to learn more about Korean culture from the students and our class trip to Independence Mall. I'm reminded that my favorite professor of all time, Dr. Harvie M. Conn, was a missionary to South Korea many, many years ago.

COSMOPOLITAN MISSION SERVICE BAPTIST CHURCH - Youth Sunday - Philadelphia, PA - October 31, 2010. Topic: "We've Got Some Difficult Days Ahead" Psalm 11:3.

MANNA BIBLE INSTITUTE ALUMNI RETREAT - October 29-31, 2010. Another wonderful time with the small but faithful crew of M.L.B.I. who've been hosting this retreat for over 25 years. What a great crew to be with for a wonderful weekend at National Christian Conference Center in Valley Forge, PA.
